But I was talking to a work mate the other day about ligature and kerning and other terms to do with typography. When I started to explain these things to her, I realised there were some serious gaps in my knowledge.  Sure I know some basics that I learned in the early days of Desk Top Publishing packages (anyone remember Ready, Set, Go! on the Mac?).

I design and layout documents regularly in my life as a Technical Writer, so I thought I would look up a few things over the long weekend. If you are interested in design, layout and typography, here is some interesting reading.

And yes, I am a nerd!
